So far I’m really enjoying the book. I really want to know who it is that Marlena killed (I’m assuming she killed him anyway) in the prologue. I’m guessing it’s either August or Uncle Al, but I really want to know which of them it is and why she killed him. I really like the behind the scenes look at how the circus runs. I just find it really interesting.
Immediately right after opening the book, I fell completely into it. The way it was written, I could see everything in my mind, and I really felt like I was transported into that time, even though I didn’t understand some circus terms. I really like how it would switch back to old Jacob, as if he were story-telling, as opposed to reminiscing.
I agree; the prologue really sucks you in, like whoa! There’s a murder! Very unexpected. I’m thinking it was Uncle Al that Marlena killed, but in this section of the book, you have to wonder if it is really August, since it seems as if Marlena doesn’t have much interaction with Uncle Al. (If that was the case, why kill him? The suspense!)
Overall, just really enjoying the book so far. I’m surprised that I’m not reading any faster than I usually would with such a good book. (Really busy at the moment!) But I’m very eager to see what else will unfold.
Completely agree. I’m really loving it so far! Like you, I’m just totally sucked in. And now that I’ve read further, I’m thinking it’s August she kills but I must find out! lol. I like the switch back and forth with old Jacob too. I think it adds more to the story.
