Archive for March, 2013

Hey guys!

I just wanted to let you know that the discussion pages are up and running. I haven’t added any questions yet because I just got my copy yesterday and haven’t had the chance to read much of it yet. But please feel free to add your own questions! I hope to have more questions up in the next week but I have another book to read for review so please bear with me.

Don’t forget to sign up to win a signed poster of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs! They’re really cool looking. There’s the book cover and then some of the pictures on the sides/bottom. There’s only 9 days left to sign up for the giveaway!

othersystemsHey Nerds!

I know it’s been a little quiet lately, but Isis and I have a huge recommendation for you! Are you a fan of science fiction? Action? Adventure? Maybe complex social structures? Race issues? Or are you just looking for something new to fangirl (or fanboy!) over?  Well we’ve got something for you!

We were recently approached by author Elizabeth Guizzetti to read and review a book for its one year anniversary. And we are very glad to have been given the opportunity! It has become one of our new favorite books and Guizzetti has become one of our new favorite authors!

You can find our reviews for Other Systems, here and here.  So what are you waiting for? Purchase the ebook at either Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

NOTE: Scatty is still working on reading the book so her review should be up soon!

Hello lovely readers!

My apologies for not having any discussion pages up for The Merchant of Death yet. I’ve been having some problems with my computer (aka my hard drive crashed and I haven’t gotten my hands on a copy of the book yet. My roommate has told me she’d get it from her library for me but she hasn’t returned from spring break yet. I hope to have questions to discuss up as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Lovely readers,

For the first time ever the Three Nerds are hosting a giveaway! 😀 Mr. Smith who works at Quirk Books publishing saw our posts about Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and gave us some posters for a giveaway. We have two posters that are signed by the author to give away to two lucky winners.

Unfortunately, because we have limited funds (aka we’re a bunch of poor college/post-college adults) this giveaway is only for US residents. Sorry! 😦

Hello lovely readers!

As Isis posted earlier this week, The Merchant of Death by D. J. MacHale has won our March read. I’m really excited about this because the Pendragon series was one of my favorite when I was younger. Unfortunately, the other nerds have decided to decline this month’s read. Isis is backed up with books she’s been given to review and Hecate is just not interested. I’ll post discussion questions and pages up as soon as I get my hands on a copy and start reading (which will hopefully be sometime next week). I hope you all enjoy reading the book with me!

Later this week there will be a lovely surprise for all of you. Stay tuned! 😉

Thank you to everyone for voting in the poll! March’s read is The Merchant of Death (Pendragon #1) by D.J. MacHale.

pendragon“Bobby Pendragon is a seemingly normal fourteen-year-old boy. He has a family, a home, and even Marley, his beloved dog. But there is something very special about Bobby. He is going to save the world.

And not just Earth as we know it. Bobby is slowly starting to realize that life in the cosmos isn’t quite what he thought it was. And before he can object, he is swept off to an alternate dimension known as Denduron, a territory inhabited by strange beings, ruled by a magical tyrant, and plagued by dangerous revolution.

If Bobby wants to see his family again, he’s going to have to accept his role as savior, and accept it wholeheartedly. Because, as he is about to discover, Denduron is only the beginning…” ~From Goodreads.com
